A Michael Jordan edition of the Palm could be coming soon, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Ann Arbor, Mich.-based PTN Media, the folks who brought you the Claudia Schiffer-edition Palm, said in a Jan. 9 regulatory filing that they have signed a three-year deal with the hoop star to use his name and likeness for the promotion and sale of Palm operating system-based handhelds.

Under the terms of the deal signed Jan. 4, Jordan will receive 12 percent of the sales, or a minimum of $3.5 million over the three years, the filing stated.

Palm (palm) spokeswoman Marlene Somsak said Friday that the handheld maker has not inked a deal with the basketball legend. But she did say the Santa Clara, Calif.-based company has talked with Jordan and other celebrities in the wake of the Schiffer deal. Somsak said the company is evaluating the offers and how they match with the company's business interests.

Representatives of PTN Media and the former Chicago Bulls star were not immediately available for comment.
