You say you want a revolution...

George Martin, legendary producer of a legendary band called the Beatles, was recently quoted as saying he "disapproves of modern technology because now anyone can make a record in the comfort of their own home."

He also noted that, "with iPods, mini-recorders and all the new technology, people can lie in their bath and make a rock record."

Is that a bad thing?

Web services and SOA are putting the ability to produce applications in the hands of users -- working from home, from airplanes, from sound studios, and anywhere else in the world.

Let me paraphrase Martin to note that "with Web services, people can lie in their bath and write a SOAP call."  (Sorry, couldn't resist.)
