Ahead of the Friday launch of the new iPhones 5S and 5C in Australia, Telstra and Vodafone have released their post-paid pricing plans for customers wishing to sign up for 12- or 24-month contracts.
The iPhone 5S comes in gold, silver, and "space-grey" colours, a 4-inch display like the iPhone 5, a 64-bit A7 chip, a fingerprint reader, 10 hours of long-term evolution (LTE) browsing or 3G talk time, an 8-megapixel camera, and the long-awaited iOS 7 operating system.
The iPhone 5C is Apple's product aimed at the lower end of the smartphone market, but is still quite expensive on its own. It comes with a polycarbonate backing in green, grey, light blue, peach, and yellow. It has a 4-inch screen, an A6 chip, an 8-megapixel camera, and iOS 7.
The iPhones 5S and 5C can be bought outright. The 5S comes in three sizes, 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB, priced at AU$869, $999, and AU$1,129, respectively, while the 5C comes in 16GB and 32GB sizes, priced at AU$739 and AU$869, respectively, to purchase outright.
For those customers wanting to go on plans, Telstra has four 24-month plans for each the 5S and 5C broken into Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large:
The Small comes with AU$600 worth of calls, unlimited texts, and 1GB of data per month
The Medium comes with AU$800 worth of calls, unlimited texts, and 1.5GB of data per month
The Large comes with AU$900 in call value with unlimited texts, and 2GB of data per month
The Extra Large comes with unlimited local calls and texts, and 3GB of data per month.

Based on the prices for the iPhone 5 plans that Telstra first took to market last year, Telstra has raised the price for the 5S in some cases by as much as AU$13 per month.

Customers signing up with Vodafone will be able to get the iPhones 5S or 5C on the new Red plans on either 12- or 24-month plans, which each include unlimited national calls and texts, where the only difference between the plans is the data limit the customer receives each month. Prices displayed are for the 24-month plans and the 12-month plans, respectively.
