  • I guess...

I guess they are going to announce that Apple is better that PC,OS X than Windows Vista!, iPhone than Nokia, etc etc.

I hope Apple Stocks go UP to $200. Investors please buy!

  • iPods? Those obsolete things?

In keeping with all the iPhone hype, Steve Jobs will overhaul the entire iPod lineup with guess-what-styled ViPods. Yessir, you will be able to play Apple-approved video games on the new "landscape" iPods with their 16, 32, 64, and 128GB SSD capacities. The first of these tres cool money burners will arrive just in time for the holiday shopping season. Music? Oh yeah, for those last century folks, you can also use the ViPod to play a couple of uncompressed music files in a re-engineered version of Sony's unsuccessful ATRAC system. Speaking of new/old, how about some MiniDiscs?

Ya know...I've been working on Macs since before they were Macs (remember Lisa?)...but I STILL don't own an iPod...and I've been avoiding iPhone because of (1) ATT, and (2) that damnable battery.

Or is it because my middle-age eyes refuse to adjust to a screen that small? :-)

Or is it because I don't feel the need for a 24/7 electronic leash? I swear, the day is coming where Buddhist monasteries in Nepal will be offering free wireless.

    • I think I understand

I haven't an iPhone either. I did not buy an iPod till the
third gen and even then I used it as an external HD not
well an iPod. However with time I found myself using it as
an iPod and that brings me to my current device the
iTouch. Still don't see the need or desire for a mobile
phone but a mobile computer/entertainment device now
that has use too me. I have close to 700 songs that I know
I like on it and only have to play it in shuffle mode. I have
a couple movies for when I'm bored like the time I was in
the hospital for day surgery and had to wait and wait as
usual. Now I can get applications and games. Oh and my
middle aged diabetic eyes see the movies on the touch just
fine surprisingly so I'd have to say.

  • RE: Apple:

The marketing campaign before the Christmas.
I'm surprised that Apple hasn't announced anything new in the computing lineup, especially the portables like the MacBook and MacBookPro.
There is so much hype for the consumer stuff like iPhone, iPod and the like that Apple has taken it eyes off the products that made. However I understand that Apple needs to expand it horizons of products so it can be economically viable but it should keep the computing products in its mind.

  • RE: Apple: Time for iPods > iPod Touch

Would make sense to have new iPods same/similar size to
iPod touches but for music, video and games only. Then
incorporate the accelerometer for 2D and 3D game fun.
Probably why they hired the CTO of Segway and his gyro
    background.

BTW an electronic gyro can be 3 accelerometers aligned
along three perpendicular axis!! Then why not a iPod Wii
like device to use with Apple TV and games on a big
    screen?????

    • Unconnected gaming devices no longer make sense

As a teacher, I see dozens of kids using their Nintendo DSes and PSPs gaming with each other in the cafeteria during breakfast and lunch, and most new console games have an online component (and the consoles themselves are all Net-connected). So an iPod touch-like device that can do everything except connect to the net does not make sense.
