Rumor: 7-inch iPad to get iPhone 4 design; oh, and it's 'finished'

Can't get enough 7-inch iPad rumors? Neither can I.

Chinese rumor site Shanzai.com is quoting sources in the "social scene in Shenzhen" that Apple's rumored 7-inch iPad is a "finished product" and that its industrial design is based on the iPhone 4 -- a complete departure from the current, first-generation iPad design.

Yes there will be a 7” tablet, yes it’s well underway in terms of product development and in fact it’s a finished product. Yes 5 plus different designs have been floating around to help Apple protect itself from people discovering its next product look and feel but... the final design will in fact bear more resemblance to the iPhone 4 stylings than the original iPad design.

  • I prefer a smaller iPad

    As much as I love my iPad, I rarely take it out of the house because of the size. A 10" device just not a comfortable size to carry around (for me) and I feel the kindle sized screen is more ideal for book reading on the go. And there really aren't any apps where I go "Oh, that just wouldn't work on a 7" screen"

    I guess I knew from day 1 that I was investing in a product I would eventually sell so I'm fine with taking a loss and getting a 7" iPad w/facetime.

  • But... but... but... 7" was a bad size when others did it!

    7" was too small to be a good tablet and too big to be a good PDA. We kept hearing over and over again about how 10" was perfect. Soon, we will start hearing about how 7" is perfect too and the Apple zealots will have to make up new reasons for why the competitor's 7" tablets suck.

It would be nice if you would put your rants into context and tell us who you're referring to when you make blanket statements such as "We kept hearing over and over again about how 10" was perfect." Or you may point out to us who these "Apple zealots" are so we can avoid them in the future.<br>Secondly this blog is about a "rumored" 7 inch iPad. Not a real iPad one can see and buy at the Apple store (brick & mortar or online). Besides the Verizon iPhone rumor is older than the 7 inch iPad rumor and we all know how real the former is.

      Do you want to remind you what you were writing about the iPhone 3 years ago, and now you own one? I've been thinking to ask you if you are aware that in psychiatry, what you do is called schizophrenia. All this bashing and now computing on a mb pro and using an iPhone when you were swearing by your HTC Diamond only. How can anyone take seriously what you say after all that?

        Oh, right, it didn't. 3 years ago, the iPhone had terrible resolution, no copy and paste, no applications, no multi-tasking, limited bluetooth, etc. It [b]SUCKED[/b] big time. iPhone versions 1 through 3 were really, really, really bad phones.

        However, iPhone 4 was a pretty big leap over iPhone 3GS and finally the facts that iPhone is a brick and I'm forced to use iTunes are outweighed by all the other things that Apple got right.

        Yup. It only took Apple 1.5 years to [b]finally[/b] produce a phone that was better than the HTC Touch Diamond. When you compare Apple's 2010 phone to HTC's 2008 phone, Apple's phone wins. Yay Apple!!

      And you do exactly the same thing nz, you buy a mb pro for a small fortune, when you know that Apple upgrades its portables every 6 months.
      About the HTC diamond and the iPhone. 1st HTC has been in the mbile phone business far longer than Apple has, even so, Apple managed to take many customers away from HTC take your highness for example. But you haven't answered my question. If Apple stinks so much, they imitate, they misinform, they do defective products etc etc, why on earth do you throw your money at them. You did not buy an HTC this year, Desire EVO, (and if I was not so tolerant, I would tell you to move to an HTC-dedicated blog) since they were so great. Are you scared to admit that a window6 HTC could not upgrade to win7 and then how would that make you feel? or that finally the iPhone is the best mobile on then market?And what is it with that love and hate relation with Apple, have you been thinking about it, have you seen a specialist maybe? I mean so much energy spent bashing them post after post for 3 years now and here you are, an Apple Fan, or in your own words "a sheep" buying quote: overrated products for stupid ignorant people!!!!

      @Cylon Centurion 0005 [gadget name] [any version] obsolete only six months after being released seems to sum up EVERY piece of tech ever released. That won't stop me from using my iPad until it stops working, which I expect to be in about 3 years for a mobile device. Any longer than that would be a plus.

    Those 10" ipads will have good resell value. Especially if sold at half price. I seen a couple refurbished ones, in the Apple store, at a $50 dollar discount. Not low enough for me to grab one.

    I think that a 7 inch tablet computer is the smallest a tablet computer should get for a person to read text on and answer email on a on screen keyboard my only dislike for Apple Iphones and Ipads is they wont show flash video
    but that does not matter to some people

    I could image how heavy the iPad would be if it had a similar stainless steel trim as the iphone 4. Probably a good 2.5 pounds.
