This week on the Dan & David Show, Dan and I discuss Microsoft's accusation that the open-source software industry has infringed 235 Microsoft patents and Dell's Project Hybrid, which appears to be a plan deliver virtualized, plug-and-play servers for datacenters. We also Amazon's new DRM-free music service, Google's Universal search and the colonization of the Web.

In the podcast, I talk about how Amazon's new music service (given Amazon's size and reach) could be the one to finally slow the Apple juggernaut down. And, in response to Dan's discussion of Google's new uber search, I posit that very few people really get what Google is up to. Dan doesn't see a huge amount of upside for Google given how big its search business already is. I say the big upside is over on the applications side where Google is actually breaking down the boxed in thinking that causes us to put boundaries around types of software (eg: Office productivity). In the Google world, software (delivered as service) will simply be a continuum. There's no real end and no real beginning. Just a lot of different stuff you can do (very different from what a productivity suite does) in an integrated fashion.
