Android developers intro new training for building apps

By | December 16, 2011, 11:26am PST

Summary: The Google Android team responds to developer needs with new training courses for solving common app development quirks.

Google is rolling out a holiday present to mobile app developers interested in Android. Behold the beta launch of Android Training, a new platform designed to enable developers to build better apps, using best practices for solving common Android development problems.

Courses are touted to cover a variety of framework topics, including designing effective navigation, managing audio playback, and optimizing battery life.

Android Developer Relations tech lead Reto Meier explained on the Android Developers blog that “each class explains the steps required to solve a problem or implement a feature using code snippets and sample code for you to use in your apps.”

Again, this is just a rough start for Android Training, but Google promises that it will add more classes as well as update existing ones in the coming months. Other planned features include over-arching courses, sample apps, and offering training courses to help developers enhance apps using objective-oriented collections of classes.

If you’re an Android developer, what would you like these classes to cover?

Nice post. Here???s a tool to use to build your mobile apps in minutes without coding. Just point-and-click http://www.caspio.com/online-database/features/mobile.aspx
doesn't matter as long as UX guidelines suck. There is no much change there.

Learning to build mobile applications is not an easy endeavor (even with training). It can be done, but you must have the drive and the aptitude (plus the time) to overcome the inevitable challenges.

If you are looking to create a mobile app for your business (or innovative idea), you would probably be smart to simply hire a qualified professional.

@cspreston I think the training is targeted at professional developers.
