Sean Smith, campaign manager for Senator Joe Lieberman, has stated publicly that his candidate's site and email systems started experiencing problems last (Monday) night and became totally inaccessible by 7am this morning. Although we won't know for sure until more news comes out, it appears to be a classic denial of service attack. According to CBSNews.com:

Democratic Sen. Joe Lieberman, who was locked in a battle with an anti-war challenger in the nation's most closely watched primary race Tuesday, accused his opponent's supporters of hacking his campaign Web site and e-mail system.....Lieberman campaign manager Sean Smith said the campaign has contacted the Connecticut attorney general's office and asked for a criminal investigation by state and federal authorities....Lieberman, campaigning Tuesday in New Haven, said he has no proof that Lamont supporters are responsible, but is asking the state party chairman to intervene.

Intervene? And do what? What on earth can the state party chairman do? I'm sure Lieberman is right. It's either his opponents supporters that are responsible or maybe, it's just someone that doesn't like him who happened to find the vulnerability. But it's one of two things (1) unlikely his opponent or anybody else in Democratic party had anything to do with it, or (2) incredibly stupid if they did.

About an hour after this allegation was announced almost everyone in blogdom --except you--knew that this story was false.

The site went down because of the ineptitude of Lieberman tech staff.

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
Hey, dolt, did you think that no American would be irate over your treachery in supporting this war that even McCain admitted today is FOR OIL (and Dick Cheney admitted in 1998 would be to "protect ...Israel and...Oil" in his PNAC open letter to Bill Clinton http://www.newamericancentury.org/iraqclintonletter.htm)?
    Hmm?
OF COURSE someone took advantage of the ignorance of your server administrator.
I'm just sorry I haven't the skills for that kind of thing.
