Lost iPod not yet reunited with owner, but I have new clues
First, I want to thank what appears to be hundreds of bloggers that have joined in the effort to help reunite the iPod that I recently found with its owner. Since the initial post that started my Web-based quest, I've also listed the found iPod on Craigslist's lost and found (Boston Area) and checked lostipods.com, and exchanged emails with people who have lost their iPods as well as ZDNet readers with ideas on additional measures I could take.
One suggestion that many readers have come up with is to post some of the photos in the iPod to the Web. I believe from looking at the photos (and there are many of them), I know which of the people in them is the iPod's owner. I'm guessing it's the father in what appears to be a large family. It's hard to tell exactly which of the kids in the photos are his and which aren't. But it looks like there could be as many as six or seven of them. The problem with publishing the photos is that its very possible this family doesn't want any of its photos published on the Internet.
This morning though, one reader suggested that I blur out the faces and show the background in some of the photos on the chance that someone might recognize the specific part of New England that the family comes from. A lot of readers asked why I was so sure that the family comes from New England. Answer? Judging by the clothing that the kids wear, this is a family that likes the Patriots and the Red Sox. There are also plenty of photos with snow in them. Sure, that's no guarantee. But the house they live in looks pretty New Englandy as well. But, this morning's email made be browse the pictures one more time just in case I missed an important clue and sure enough I did.
Based on a couple of pictures of a team and a close up of one kid with a light-blue soccer shirt, the owner of this iPod also has one or more kids in the Dover-Sherborn soccer program. Dover is a Boston suburb (confirming my initial hunch that the person was a resident of New England. Also, this family has a chocolate-colored Labrador Retriever. Two other hints (in addition to the "De Monstrow" hint given in my previous post): This iPod owner knows someone named Lisa who recently had her 50th birthday and another person named Liv who went to Norway.
