Summary: This week on The Dan & David Show, I'm late to the studio, so David and executive producer Marianne Wilman get the show off to a start.  As usual David rants about DRM, especially Apple's, and explains via Eric Raymond and Tim Bray why Linux desktop isn't ready for prime time.

This week on The Dan & David Show, I'm late to the studio, so David and executive producer Marianne Wilman get the show off to a start.  As usual David rants about DRM, especially Apple's, and explains via Eric Raymond and Tim Bray why Linux desktop isn't ready for prime time. Our favorite story of the week is Apple's desire to own the term "Pod." David wrote:

Even if the product you make doesn't look, smell, feel, or do anything remotely close to what an iPod does, and even if consumers can't buy it on the shelves in a store, that apparently doesn't mean Apple won't release its legal dogs on you if the name of your product includes the letters P-O-D.

David also provides a mini-review of the Motorola Q and the overall class of higher-end mobile devices, and we discuss my findings from the Digital Hollywood Building Blocks conference and the Under the Radar event on Office 2.0 that took place this week.
