Oracle said it has had more than 23,000 downloads of its Oracle Business Indicators application for the iPhone.

Oracle and Salesforce were among the first with what I'd call real enterprise apps for the iPhone delivered via Apple's App Store. In fact, I'd argue those two--along with Sybase--are still the only enterprisey apps for the iPhone. For context, folks have downloaded more than 60 million programs from Apple's App Store. What? Monkey Ball is more popular than business intelligence?

The database giant provided the following download breakdown:

  • United States - 18,698
  • Australia - 399
  • Europe - 1,433
  • Great Britain - 1,082
  • Rest of the World - 1,443

The big question is how many people are actually using Oracle Business Indicators. Oracle and Salesforce both have free apps so there's no reason not to download the software.

Salesforce has the 12th most popular business app on the iPhone and Oracle is at No. 17. Sybase's iAnywhere Mobile Office application is at No. 18 and is likely to have roughly the same download data as Oracle.

Here's a look at the pecking order once you get in the enterprise app vicinity.

The most popular apps are what I'd characterize as more productivity oriented than enterprise. I'll update with downloads from Salesforce and Sybase when I get them.
