Oracle trots out more business intelligence apps for SAP customers

Rather than stealing customers away, Oracle has two new products designed to help SAP customers where they are.

Just because Oracle CEO Larry Ellison regards SAP as his company's biggest competitor, that doesn't include the customer base. Rather just the opposite.

In fact, Oracle is introducing two new business solutions targeted towards SAP customers with the intention of extending "intelligence" to SAP management and distribution services.

Paul Rodwick, vice president of product management within Oracle's Business Intelligence unit, pointed out in a statement that these are the "first packaged analytic applications specifically built for SAP customers that run on an engineered system for analytics, and are fully enabled for mobile deployment."

Both the Oracle Procurement and Spend Analytics for SAP and the Oracle Supply Chain and Order Management Analytics for SAP are available now as part of the latest release of Oracle Business Intelligence Applications Release, which was also introduced on Wednesday.

With a focus on improved performance and speed when it comes to analytics, the BI applications suite has been updated to include a new module for project-based budgeting and tracking, an account reconciliation manager, and support for leveraging Oracle's Exalytics In-Memory Machine to achieve "extreme" planning performance.
