PeopleSoft and Oracle had numerous discussions about a friendly merger before the hostile takeover bid was launched, Oracle President Safra Catz testified Friday in U.S. District Court. Catz said that PeopleSoft executives had not opposed a merger--provided that they run the combined company. Can you imagine Larry Ellison giving that a moment's consideration?
