PlayStation Store back online; 'Welcome Back' offer not available yet
After the great hacking debacle that has played out over the last two months, Sony has finally brought its PlayStation Store back online.
Although there have been reports that the PlayStation Store isn't available for everyone just yet, the online shopping portal is rolling service back out throughout the globe this week. The stall is most likely due to heavy traffic from eager PlayStation Network subscribers looking for their free "Welcome Back" packages.
The said freebies are supposed to include a number of items (which barely reach an approximated value of $100 maximum) such as free downloadable games and movies. A full list of the offerings plus other discounted items available in the PlayStation Store is available over on Sony's official PlayStation Blog.
However, the only catch is that the Welcome Back package isn't even available yet, which is strange considering Sony promised it would be as soon as the Store was open for business again. Sony hasn't specified when the Welcome Back offer will be available, but PlayStation Store and PlayStation Plus updates will drop tomorrow, June 3rd.
One could argue that Sony owes its subscribers a whole lot more for dealing with the downtime and putting their identities at risk - not to mention the relative silence on Sony's part during the first week of the ordeal back in April. On the other hand, free is free, so maybe we should just wait. Patiently for now...but not for long.
