  • Slow news day then

3 critical issues which are the same issues to consider when you upgrade any operating system - I would also add application compatibility to the list as well even with all the improvments to compatability mode and XP mode. Maybe your title should have read Standard things to consider when upgrading an OS.

"<b><i>As Bill Detwiler explains in this TR Dojo video, IT departments should consider hardware requirements, upgrade paths, and driver compatibility before rolling out Windows 7.</b></i>" If you have to tell your I.T. People this, then you need to get rid of Moe, Larry and Curly! Back when computers were coal fired we knew this!

Great video Larry--after lab testing both Windows 7 Professsional and Ultimate for 2 months on my a virtual PC and a laptop I am happy with Windows 7. One was a clean install (the Virtual PC) and the laptop was a 32 bit Vista upgrade which took less than an hour on a 3 yr old Compaq Presario Turion64 with 2 GB. Loaded up all the drivers perfectly and connected to the wifi in seconds flat. Windows 7 boots up at least 20 seconds faster than when it had Vista installed. Really looking forward to this release.
