My T-Mobile G1 Google Android device (see my full review) has been an enjoyable device to use for the most part, but there are definitely some things that can be updated to make it better. I posted on the RC33 update that is rolling out now OTA to G1 devices and T-Mobile sent me one that should have been in the first wave. The update appeared on the test G1 this morning, my personal one hasn't received it yet, and as you can see in the video below there are a few new functions on the G1 now.

I haven't been able to find out how T-Mobile determines who is part of each wave of the update so I can't help tell you when to expect the update. It just appeared as a pop-up notification on the test G1 so there is nothing you have to do to get the update.

The RC33 update includes the following new features:

  • Ability to save photos or files by tap and hold on a file
  • Automatic check for system updates
  • Google Voice Search feature
  • Google Latitude support in Google Maps

There are also supposed to be stability and bug fixes in the update. I like the Google Voice Search capability and can see using this when I am out and about. Google Latitude is enjoyable for sharing with friends and I can see it being very helpful when I travel.

I still want to see the further improvements in the G1, including the ability to store apps on a SD card, improved Bluetooth profile support, and video capture capability.

  • G1 Android info needed

As an avid T-mobile customer with both @home and wifi phone service, I need to find out if Android is going to allow wifi or is it already?
I am ready for an upgrade but am holding off due to the uncertainty of this service.
