CoPilot Live launches full iPhone navigation solution for just $35

I am right in the middle of my evaluation of CoPilot Live for Android and then today I received the press release that their iPhone product is also now available in the iTunes App Store (iTunes link). CoPilot Live is a system that can be used offline if you do not have wireless data access and for $34.99 you get the software and all maps for the USA and Canada. IMHO, this is a fantastic deal and one that is tough to beat with subscription services.

CoPilot previously launched their product in the UK and in just 1 week has moved into the top 20 of all paid apps, which is saying a lot when you consider people balk at paying more than $5 for a top quality application.

I plan to post a review of this application running on both the iPhone and Android next week, but in the meantime you can see the list of features for the iPhone here:

* Full spoken turn-by-turn voice directions * Detailed street maps of UK and Ireland with full UK post codes stored on your iPhone * Clear 3D and 2D driving views with SmartZoom™ speed-variable zoom and street names * Navigate to a house number, street, intersection or address book contact * Automatic portrait and landscape display switching * Comprehensive multi-stop pre-trip planning and preview * Route optimizer works out the best way around multiple stops * Intelligent navigation provides guidance in tunnels and underpasses * Automatic day/night mode * Navigate to thousands of Points of Interest * Lane indicator & CoPilot ClearTurn™ provides a more realistic view of motorway exits and junctions * Real Signpost display matches real-life signs * LiveLink™ location sharing and messaging: keep track of your CoPilot friends, live on-screen! * Live 5 day weather forecast for your location or destination * Roadside Assistance helps you contact your breakdown company and tell them your location * Huge range of customization features to suit the way you travel * Customized trip status displays, including eta, distance remaining and more * ... and much more

I just paid $70 for the Navigon product and plan to compare the two and see how they stack up. I have to admit I though the $70 product was a good deal and now with CoPilot Live at $34.99 I don't see why anyone who navigates would not buy this product. With TomTom's product coming soon it will be interesting to see where they come in with pricing.

A great aspect of CoPilot Live is that they also include some services that you can use if you do have a connection to make your navigation experience even better than a completely offline solution so you get the best of both worlds.

I am not sure what the upgrade cycle is or what any fee to upgrade the maps and POI database will be in the future, but will try to find out this information and put it in my review.
