DataViz brings Office support to the Nokia N900 Maemo 5 device

By | July 26, 2010, 8:02am PDT

Summary: DataViz makes an excellent Office program in Documents To Go and today they released their Maemo 5 product with support for the Nokia N900. N900 users can now create and edit Word and Excel documents on the go.

As you may know, I am a fan of the DataViz Documents To Go products (see my Google Android and iPad coverage) and so was very pleased to receive the news this morning that they launched their Documents To Go Premium Edition for Nokia Maemo 5 product. I enjoy using my Nokia N900 device on T-Mobile and will be posting a full review of this new software on my Nokia Experts site tomorrow. This software was promised to come to the N900 in May when the 1.2 firmware was released and I was getting worried that we would see them continue development knowing that Maemo 5 is a limited release product with MeeGo coming out next.

The Documents To Go Premium for Maemo 5 features include:

  • Native Word and Excel File Editing, including Office 2007 and 2010 files.
  • Password Protection
  • Quick Keyboard Shortcuts
  • InTact technology to retain original formatting
  • Multi-level zoom
  • Live hyperlink support
  • PowerPoint Support Coming Soon (Support for editing Microsoft PowerPoint files will be available as a free update once available.)

Customers who have already purchased Documents To Go Viewer Edition v 1 for Maemo will receive a free upgrade to Premium Edition. A 30-day, fully functional free trial is available for download via a pre-loaded download link on the Nokia N900 and also via Ovi Store. For those who interested in a view-only solution, Documents To Go Viewer Edition will remain available for $9.99.
