We heard last week that Palm was offering itself up for a sale with reported interested parties being Lenovo and HTC. I said HTC webOS devices would be exciting several weeks ago and then wrote up what I thought the possible HTC strategies were regarding Palm. According to a report on Engadget we can stop thinking about HTC as a possible buyer of Palm. I am not sure it ever was much of a possibility, but smartphone enthusiasts could still dream, right?

So now it looks like Lenovo may be the last possible buyer of Palm and if they can make smartphone hardware like they do notebook computers then we could still see some compelling future devices. I have been using my Palm Pre Plus extensively over the last couple of weeks and I love using webOS. I also do find the Palm Pre Plus to feel great in my hand and the only issue I really have with the hardware is the quality of the keyboard that still gives me duplicate and missing characters as I enter text. I've seen worse hardware before, but still think Palm can do better.
