mophie Juice Pack for iPhone 3G now shipping

By | November 10, 2008, 8:43pm PST

Jason mentioned the new RichardSolo 1800 iPhone battery pack earlier today and after returning from my recent business trip I discovered one was sent to me for evaluation. Unfortunately, I no longer have an iPhone 3G so I am returning my evaluation unit and hope to try out their new RichardSolo 1800 for BlackBerry to use with my new BlackBerry Bold. Another very popular battery pack also arrived at my house (again, I will have to return it without an evaluation) for the iPhone 3G and it is now available for everyone to purchase. The mophie Juice Pack for the iPhone 3G can be purchased for US$99.95.

The mophie Juice Pack for iPhone 3G gives your iPhone 3G more than double the power with the following stated battery run times for different situations:

  • Standby Time – Up to additional 350 hours
  • Audio Playback – Up to additional 28 hours
  • Video Playback – Up to additional 8 hours
  • Talk Time –Up to additional 6 hours(3G Network) and 12 hours(2G Network)
  • Internet use – Up to additional 6 hours(3G) and 7 hours(Wi-Fi)

I did open up the package to check out the battery pack (and also see if my original iPhone would fit - it doesn’t) and discovered that the entire outer casing of the battery pack is covered with that wonderful non-slip rubberized soft-touch finish. Similar to my MacBook Pro, there is a 4 light LED (blue in color) status indicator that quickly tells you how much juice is left on the battery pack. The battery uses technology to first drain the mophie Juice Pack first so when it is expended you will have a fully charged iPhone 3G.

You will also find that the USB port (used to charge up the battery pack) also works in pass-through mode so that you can charge and sync your iPhone to your computer using a standard miniUSB cable rather than an iPhone Apple cable. I have many more of these miniUSB cables lying around and they are quite common and standard in case you don’t have an Apple iPhone cable available. In addition, they include a miniUSB cable in the package for you.
