Next iPhone may be coming in September and I am going back to iOS
Summary: It has been a couple of years since I had an iPhone, but with iOS 5 coming and my experiences with other platforms I think it is time to get back to owning an iPhone.
We know that a new Apple iPhone will be launched sometime before the holiday season and according to Boy Genius Report indications are that it will come in the first half of September. I never bought the iPhone 4, but given that I enjoy using Android on my HTC Flyer, I love my iPad 2, and I really like what I see in iOS 5 the probability of me getting this next generation iPhone is about 98%.
We still have no details on what the next iPhone specifications are although we have seen a ton of unsubstantiated rumors. It is almost a given it will have a faster processor and better camera and we know for sure it will run iOS 5 and these alone are enough for me to purchase one. I do enjoy Windows Phone 7, especially with the Mango update and will keep one of these devices in my collection. While I also like Android on a phone, I am tired of lame battery life, performance slow down with lots of installed apps and widgets, and inconsistent interfaces. I also like my BlackBerry PlayBook and was thinking of a new BlackBerry 9900, but I need better Exchange support and doubt I will actually go that route. HP can't seem to get around to releasing the Pre 3 and I don't have much confidence in a long term future of webOS smartphones so I am not likely to pick one up.
We all have different smartphone needs and desires and it looks like it is time for me to try out an iOS smartphone again after making my rounds of other platforms over the past year. Are you looking to get the next iPhone?

Sir, I used to read all your blogs from the days when you were a great fan of windows mobile ( those days only MS and Palm were the only games in town). Great to know that you havn't jumped the ship.

+100. You are just like me. I use my Windows Phone 7 (previously it was HTC Tilt 2 line) for lot of communications and keep iPhone and Android devices for development purpose.

Seriously, why respond to this post with any such emotion. This article is clearly link bait. Don't worry, in a few months, he'll switch phones again and make some other ridiculous announcement (as if anyone cares which phone Matthew Miller uses). The reasons for his next switch will make about as much sense as this switch and he'll manage to get a few digs in about the next iPhone which will surely stir the pot. Honestly, this tripe is just too predictable. ZDNet has very low standards and obviously encourages such nonsense.

Instead you go to a FUGLY interface that's a usability Mess called Windows Phone 7?
It bothers you that people are more satisfied with their WP7 OS
as opposed to their Android OS.
That's funny!

Probably where I'll go too
I do really like what Apple is doing with iOS5 and it addresses some of my complaints with that platform. Not to mention if wireless syncing works like it is supposed to with iCloud it will be the Bees Knees for me.

I am really looking forward to iOS 5
We will have to see what iPhone 5 brings in terms of hardware but I probably won't be upgrading, I just don't think that iOS 5 on iPhone 5 will give you that much more bang for buck than iOS 5 on iPhone 4.
Besides, I want to see what Nokia WP7 (WP8?) phones are like. I am prepared to be blown away by the combination.
