Should Villanueva have posted to Twitter during NBA halftime?

Twitter popularity is growing and you can now find several celebrities and sports stars using this social networking service. It seems that Charlie Villanueva took it a bit far last week as he posted a Tweet at halftime of a NBA game. Villanueva is a player for the Milwaukee Bucks and the coach wasn't too happy with the Tweet being made during the game as he wants players to stay focused on the game and not be distracted. Twitter definitely can be a distraction and I have to make sure to turn off the stream when I need to crack down and get work done.

Villanueva posted the following, "In da locker room, snuck to post my twitt. We're playing the Celtics, tie ball game at da half. Coach wants more toughness. I gotta step up."

Villanueva may have gotten some inspiration from the Tweet as he went on to finish with a team high 19 points as the Bucks beat the Celtics.

I have read many Tweets from people stating how their work blocks Twitter access and I am sure the Bucks coach was wishing for this power during the game. Then again, having your star players post on Twitter may benefit your team. I know I personally follow more of the Phoenix Suns games now that Shaq is on Twitter.
