Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update is officially launched
Summary: Microsoft officially announced that the Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update is now rolling out to customers and T-Mobile announced it will be launching a new device this holiday season too.
The rumors and speculation were correct and today Microsoft made it official that the Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update is starting to roll out to customers. In addition, T-Mobile announced that the HTC Radar will be coming with their HSPA+ network support in time for the holidays.
Microsoft hopes to have a smoother rollout with Mango than they did with NoDo and is turning on the update slowly at first with anticipation that 98 percent of the existing Windows Phone owners will have the update within 4 weeks and much sooner for most. I have an evaluation HTC Trophy on Verizon and after plugging it in a few minutes ago I saw there was an update for the device and am updating it now.
UPDATE: The available update was just the 7392 security update for the Trophy. I'll keep an eye out for the Mango update though.
UPDATE 2: I connected my Dell Venue Pro that has the developer version of Mango RTM installed and was informed that the Mango ISV version is available so I am updating that device now.
There is post on the Windows Phone Blog that has some hands-on impressions of the upcoming T-Mobile HTC Radar 4G. My wife is very frustrated at the moment with her Nokia N8 (she really just likes the camera) and it looks like the HTC Radar 4G may be just the device for her this Christmas. If Nokia gets a Windows Phone device out, then that may be her new device instead though.
From the press email we have the following for the Radar 4G:
The HTC Radar 4G is elegantly crafted with an aluminum unibody design for a sleek and stylish appearance. Sporting a large 3.8-inch LCD touch screen display with a virtual QWERTY keyboard and powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, the HTC Radar 4G delivers an efficient mobile communications experience at 4G speeds. The smartphone provides a comprehensive productivity experience with fully integrated Microsoft Exchange and calendar as well as Microsoft Office Hub and Internet Explorer 9 for a fast, beautiful Web experience. Additionally, the new smartphone is equipped with dedicated camera button for easy access to the 5-megapixel camera with LED flash so you never miss a photo opportunity, even if the phone is locked.

Then you don't have to worry about being that first 10%. I understand a staged rollout, you want to limit issues in the event of a major problem. I just don't want to wait any longer! Mine is updating as I type though.

Forcing the update
Connect your Phone to PC and start Zune.
Go to settings to check for phone update.
Disconnect you internetcable when immediatly after Zune client starts checking for update of your phone and reinsert it again after 10 seconds or so.
Should work but results may vary depending on how long you take to reinstate the internet connection
