Better still, the price keeps dropping on them. The top Bulldozer, the eight-core FX-8150, should cost around $245, while another eight-core, the FX-8120, will be priced at just $205. The six-core FX-6100 will run $175.
At that price, the FX-8150 should seriously undercut the price of the Intel Core i7-2600K (currently around $315), unless Intel decides to drop its price. Considering that it is rumored to be readying the i7-2700K for release soon to counter the Bulldozer launch, Intel may very well be planning to make the i7-2600K more affordable.

Yes they did. I believe they used helium cooling and from what I read the overclockers are actually going to sell a setup like that.

I have always been happy with AMD's performance. When it comes down to comparing cost and performance ratio I find AMD processors are pretty much on par with an Intel in a similar price bracket when it comes to real world performance. I have yet to find the person that can tell the difference between a game running at 60FPS over 70FPS. Some tasks you may save a few seconds here and there but I found it was better to save some money on an AMD processor and invest that into a better video card and SSD. My Phenom X4 blows away my brother's Core i7 that cost hundreds more just because of those two reasons.

The 1090T is still great bang for the buck

My DAW system is running 1090T, 8GB 1600MHZ RAM (CL9 but looking at running at 1333 and pushing to CL8) with 2 previous gen SSD's (intel v40 as OS and OCZ Vertex as recording drive) with a WD scorpio black as storage/home drive ... it is very fast and very cool.... at stock clocks at this stage.. no need to go up ..(then again I'm running Linux with fluxbox as wm.. so not wasting RAM or clocks and making use of all 6 cores as much as possible)
