Canon has unveiled a trio of high-end point-and-shoot cameras. The S95, the SD4500 IS, and SX130 IS are all quite different from one another, so there is really something for every photography interest in this set.
The pricing might seem a bit much for compact cameras, but there are a lot of landmarks for Canon with each of these models. For example, the SD4500 IS is the first Digital Elph that records full HD 1080p video, while the S95 is the first Canon camera to have in-camera, High Dynamic Range scene mode for maximizing dark tones and highlights in the same frame (a tripod is still recommended). The S95 adds to that with Hybrid IS technology for macro mode, making for one powerful compact cam.
There are a few similarities among the three, including optical image stabilization and HD video recording (720p on the S95 and SX130). But here’s a breakdown to get a better idea of where each new Canon shooter stands:
