Panasonic has taken a more fashion-friendly approach with the ultra-compact Lumix DMC-FP5 and DMC-FP7 digital cameras.

Both of these Lumix shooters are being boasted as solid options for customers who want both advanced photo and video specs in a super-slim frame. While these two only shoot up to 720p HD resolution videos, Panasonic has integrated several Intelligent Auto functions, including AF Tracking and Intelligent Exposure. AF Tracking follows and focuses in on a subject when moving, and Intelligent Exposure optimizes the exposure for each part of an image.

Both of these Lumix cameras also share the following specs:

  • Smart Touch Screens for manual editing directly on the LCD
  • 4x optical zoom
  • Mega Optical Image Stabilization
  • Intelligent ISO Control
  • Face Detection
  • Intelligent Scene Selector
  • Dedicated iA button
  • Lumix Image Uploader to share media via Facebook and YouTube
  • Intelligent LCD that detects light surroundings to display most appropriate setting
  • 70MB of built-in memory

The major differences come down to two details: display sizes and exterior color options. Sporting a 3.0-inch 3:2 LCD, the FP5 will be available in blue, black, pink and silver. The Lumix FP7 will be available in blue, black and red with a 3.5-inch 16:9 LCD panel.

Like the Lumix FH2 and FH5 cameras, pricing and availability for these two cameras will be announced 30 days prior to shipping.
