Are your Facebook Events disappearing?

By | February 21, 2012, 9:50am PST

Summary: Some users are reporting that soon after they create a Facebook Event, it disappears. The events in question can be created by either individuals or Facebook Pages. Are you experiencing this issue?

Some Facebook users are reporting their Facebook Events are disappearing. The following Facebook Help Center question was posted by Facebook user Kirsty Walde: “I have created a three month long event. It now no longer shows in my Events list. How can I get it back there?”

The issue appears to have started happening last week. Five other Facebook users have commented on the thread and confirmed they are also experiencing the same problem. How the event was created doesn’t seem to matter: some of the disappearing Events are personal ones while others were created from a Facebook Page.

The Facebook Events are disappearing from facebook.com/events but some users say they are still present on Facebook. As such, if you remember the name of your Event, you may still be able to find it if you type it into the search bar. If that doesn’t work, then Facebook appears to have a bigger problem on its hands.

I don’t create events often but I recently did make one for my birthday. The Event was created two weeks in advance of the party, which is this Friday, and it hasn’t disappeared on me yet. I’m wondering if the Events that are disappearing have something to do with length: maybe Events that are longer than a few hours or even days are being hidden from view, or maybe Events that are far out into the future are the ones that are disappearing. It could even be a combination of both.

The Facebook Bug Tracker doesn’t currently list any bugs related to this issue. I have contacted Facebook and will update you if I hear back.
