Silicon Valley's Judy Estrin warns we are running out of innovation

I recently met with Judy Estrin, a former CTO at Cisco, and one of Silicon Valley's top serial entrepreneurs. Since the dotcom bubble burst she has been concerned that Silicon Valley has not been investing enough in startups pioneering innovative technologies.

I recently met with Judy Estrin, a former CTO at Cisco, and one of Silicon Valley's top serial entrepreneurs. Since the dotcom bubble burst she has been concerned that Silicon Valley has not been investing enough in startups pioneering innovative technologies.

She warns that we are living off of the innovation investments made in decades past and that is going to be a problem in the future.

In recent years she has looked beyond Silicon Valley and found that the US is not making the investments necessary in education, and R&D, and that there is a large innovation deficit. Her findings are contained in a new book: Closing the Innovation Gap: Reigniting the Spark of Creativity in a Global Economy
