5+ Mother's Day gift ideas for gadget geeks

By | May 6, 2011, 12:39pm PDT

Summary: Mother’s Day gift ideas for the multitasking, photo-obsessed, bookworm and chef in your life.

Still looking for that perfect gift for mom for Mother’s Day, but want to keep your tech cred in tact? Does she already have all the latest gear that are either still in box or attracting dust bunnies on her bookshelf? If you find yourself nodding in agreement, then read on for some gift ideas that will make your mom love you (and your present) on May 8.

For your cooking mama

Mypressi Handheld Espresso Machine: Few things make your mom sit down and take a moment for herself like a perfect shot of espresso, but making one is a labor of love that often requires her to be on her feet (the clean-up is even more of a drag!). Give your coffee-loving mom the gift of portability and precision with this Mypressi Handheld Espresso Machine from ThinkGeek. She will be able to sit pretty while waiting for her joe to fill her mug, with few parts to wash afterward. Available from ThinkGeek.com, $149.99.

Breville 2-Slice Radio Toaster: My partner-in-crime Ricardo has the deets on the hybrid toaster and radio from Breville that any music-loving and toast-fanatic mom would want on her kitchen counter. See Breville.co.uk for availability, $80 (£50).

For the multitasking mom

NanoWatch: You know that pink iPod Nano your mom can never find in her purse because it’s filled with everything from her iPad to her gym gear? Rather than get her yet another case, why not turn the device into a watch that she can wear on her wrist? Although this NanoWatch isn’t particularly technical (it’s just a package of straps designed to fit the device), it does offer your mom another reason to use her Nano to keep her on-time for all her appointments (the Nano has an analogue clock interface). Bonus: the NanoWatch includes three different color straps so your mom can even coordinate them with her outfit. Available from ThinkGeek.com, $11.99.

If your mother can't appreciate any of these suggestions, then what would you reco m mend? Before you I can read your idea though, please provide signed affidavits from the product manufac turer and all major retailers disclosing your payment scheme.

This has nothing to do with "mom" and everything to do with gadget freaks getting gifts for themselves and ZDNet getting referral fees for easy sales-lead articles like this.

@swag_v You're on the wrong site. You should only get suggestions from sites that have no advertising and FTC investigations that have cleared them of any connection to a gadget manufacturer.

If your mother can't appreciate any of these suggestions, then what would you recommend? Before you I can read your idea though, please provide signed affidavits from the product manufacturer and all major retailers disclosing your payment scheme.

Because heaven forbid a gadget blog suggest gadgets.
