If you haven't heard, it's difficult to get an iPad 2 these days. It's going to be even more difficult at Best Buy if you don't have a unit reserved.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Best Buy stores will be temporarily holding non-reserved iPad 2 units. There's also an “upcoming promotion," related to the iPad 2, but that could just mean the mega-retailer will get more in stock. There are a number of other stores also selling the iPad besides Best Buy and Apple, including Radio Shack as well as AT&T and Verizon, of course. But it's hard to come by anywhere, so call ahead if you plan on getting one in store.

The iPad 2 shortage could be attributed to a few different reasons, mainly just very high demand and also production issues following the tragic disaster in Japan last month, which is also affecting production and sales of many other tech products.

Personally, I've decided to take the plunge finally and order an iPad 2 for myself. Given that I ordered it on March 28, I'll consider myself lucky if I get it before the end of April as the wait time was three to four weeks at the time (directly from Apple), but it has now been cut down to two to three weeks.
