Besides the HTC Droid Incredible 2, Verizon's other introduction on Tuesday is the carrier's first rugged Android-based phone: the Casio G’zOne Commando.

There is actually more to focus on with this device than just the bizarre name. The Android 2.2 device is intended for busy and often-times outdoor business environments such as engineering, healthcare, construction and transportation.

The G’zOne Commando is seriously ready for nearly anything thrown at it (or maybe even if the smartphone itself is being thrown) at it meets Military Standards 810G for altitude, rain, extreme temperatures, solar radiation, immersion, vibration, humidity, and even salt fog. Not to mention it's shock and dust resistant.Data is protected nearly as well as the exterior with high-security encryption for corporate email.

This tough little devil should also be handy for those who love the great outdoors (summer is right around the corner!) with eight "lifestyle" features, such as an Earth compass, a walking counter, a thermometer and a star gazer function that uses the built-in GPS to display the stars and constellations depending on the location, time and season.

But at the heart of the G’zOne Commando, it's still a smartphone with 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 5-megapixel autofocus camera/camcorder with LED flash, a 3.6-inch display, and a 3G mobile hotspot function that provides connectivity for up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices.

Also like the Droid Incredible 2, the G'zOne Commando is priced at $199.99 with a new two-year customer agreement and will launch on Thursday, April 28th.
