HP Envy 17 notebook officially goes on sale; starts at $1,399

After debuting it a few weeks ago, Hewlett Packard has put the HP Envy 17 laptop computer on the market with a whole lot of options ready to be customized.

For review, the base model of this 17-inch HP notebook is powered by an Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost, and it includes Windows 7 Home Premium OS, 4GB of DDR3 memory, a DVD burner and a 320GB SATA hard drive. You'll also get a six-cell Lithium-Ion battery that delivers a paltry battery life of up to 2.5 hours. That will all start for $1,399.99.

That price will rise if you choose to customize your machine. Some of those upgrade options include a Core i7 CPU, up to 8GB of DDR3 memory, up to 1TB of hard drive space, Windows 7 Ultimate OS and a Blu-ray drive. There is a battery upgrade option to a nine-cell version, but it doesn't improve the life span that much with a limit of 3.75 hours.

There doesn't seem to be any updates regarding the Envy 14 (the other notebook announced with the Envy 17), so it should still be on track to be released in the U.S. on June 27, starting at $999.99.
