MacBook Pro laptops rumored to get Intel Sandy Bridge processors
While we all wait patiently for an iPad 2 announcement, the latest Apple rumor is that the MacBook Pro laptop collection will be refreshed again this year with Intel's Sandy Bridge processors.
According to Danish blogger Kenneth Lund (via MacRumors), the new MacBook Pro notebooks will start shipping on Tuesday March 1. Nothing more has really been specified, but the MacBook Air is reportedly getting in on the Sandy Bridge action this summer too.
The MacBook Pro series was updated last spring with major internal changes such as better NVIDIA GPUs, faster Intel Core processors and substantially longer battery lives. Last December, rumors started circulating about new MacBook Pros to launch in 2011, including a fourth model with another display size option.
It seems likely that Apple will update its high-end notebook collection this year, especially with the Lion version of Mac OS X set to arrive this summer. But it would seem more plausible for Apple to launch any new computers when Lion is ready to go rather than have some new laptops come out first and then require customers to upgrade them at their own expense (in time and money).
