Not satisfied with just leaking Microsoft's under-wraps Courier tablet, Gizmodo went and leaked photos of alleged Microsoft "Pink" project phones, named Turtle and Pure.

A post published just moments ago reveals that the curiously named and shaped phones will be manufactured by Sharp, which will co-brand the devices with Microsoft.

Sharp originally produced the Sidekick hardware for Danger, which was bought by Microsoft two years ago. It seems this project, and these devices, are aimed at the same market.

So what will run the device? Our own Mary Jo Foley reported earlier that Pink phones will include Zune services and have their own app store.

No word on availability or price, naturally.

kinda

http://bit.ly/10A2pV <--- since the lousy
Webkit engine mangles long URLs

They will continue to use the App Store
model that the Sidekick has employed with over-
the-air applications appearing on your phone
bill. Danger's phone App Store predated Apple's
by two years.

How could this be? Apple invented the digital
application store. Obviously the author was
wrong when he wrote that.

• App Store

Surely you don't actually believe the Apple-hype or marketing that they INVENTED a mobile phone "App Store" or that Apple was FIRST??

Now thats the good laugh that I was looking for today!!!

• No, he's pretending to be stupid. At least, I think he's pretending. [nt]

• I often find myself wondering that very thing:P

Still the original responder himself has bought into the claim that Apple
fans are always stating that Apple Invented it first myth. I've rarely seen
Apple invent anything I must admit. No what I find is that Apple makes
things better:)

• So they do not innovate?

innovation: The act of introducing something new.

That's so broad that a lot of vendors will fit into the innovators category.

So does Apple really make things better or just hypes things better?

• as much as you joke..

I actually praised Apple App store as one of their
few innovations... but now that you've got me out
of that spot I realize even that wasn't their own
innovation... NOW what token innovation can I
throw at fanbois?

• A smart phone that easy to use.

MS has yet to even get decent usability down. Even in the stop gap WM
6.5.

• Can these phones "squirt" songs to one another like Zune?

Hey baby, can I squirt you with song?

• Rename the Turtle to Squirtle. [nt]

• At first glance

I think they're a bit too consumer-focused for my tastes. I want something similar but more business oriented. I'll reserve judgement for the final products though.

• Integrate with Xbox Live!

Then you would have something. Zune Tunes, App store, Xbox Live integration, phone, e-mail, IM, Zune like sharing of tunes, web browsing, social networking.... Micorosoft has all the elements, they are just not that good a bringing them all together. I can only dream I guess.

• I'll kick it up one more notch!

Not just Xbox Live integration, but also Media Center integration. You plug your phone into the network and it is a media device. You can copy a show to your phone or a song.

You can chat on Xbox Live, maybe even play versions of the same games (certainly XBLA games). You can program recordings in media center or view Media Center Internet shows.

Why MS hasn't taken advantage of Xbox live to control the living room is shocking to me.

• Well Put!

I agree! What is the hold up MS?!?

• Nice idea, but ...

MS has never been that visionary. They think of gadgets, not lifestyles. Their loss.

• RE: Microsoft 'Pink' phones, Turtle and Pure, leaked in pictures

That is one ugly funkin' turtle. Throw it back into the pond.

Nothing exciting about the Pure, just another candy bar phone
with, no doubt, some last generation touch tech to try and give it
flair.

Boring!!!
