After some speculation earlier this month, Target has gone ahead and confirmed that the retail superstore will start carrying the Amazon Kindle on their shelves starting April 25.

Don’t clear your plans this weekend just yet. The Kindle will only be debuted at Target’s flagship Minneapolis store and 102 south Florida stores this Sunday, with a roll out planned for the rest of the year.

There’s no discount for buying the Kindle at Target versus online, as the price remains the same at $259. But if you’re on the fence about this e-book reader business, now you have the benefit of being able to see and touch the device in person.

That could really make a difference in Kindle sales, as this is the first time that the Amazon e-reader will be sold in stores - and perhaps leveling the playing field with the Nook and the iPad.
