While it seems everyone just has to release something that has 3D-capability these days, Toshiba Mobile Display has something that is a little different.

The LCD producer has developed a 21-inch HD panel that is ready for 3D and doesn't require any silly glasses.

Toshiba Mobile Display has incorporated auto-stereoscopic technology, which basically means that the display can project in 3D but doesn't require viewers to be using 3D glasses to get the full experience. This isn't always easy to achieve, however, as the employment of 3D glasses is also there to reduce eye fatigue, which can sometimes be the problem with auto-stereoscopic screens.

The developers of this 1280x800 resolution panel have tried to overcome this by implementing a lens sheet to reduce luminance intensity and a "multi-parallax approach" that creates smoother images and opens up the viewing angle. There will still be plenty of light on that HD display, up to 480 nits of brightness.

While it's been introduced to the world, it's not ready for consumers yet as there's no note of a price or release date yet. But if you want to get a closer look, this panel will be on display at SID 2010 in Seattle next month.
