We've all been waiting for it, and now here it is. After some recent rumors and leaks, Verizon Wireless has officially unveiled the HTC Droid Incredible 2.

The wait won't be long either as the Droid Incredible 2 will be available in stores and online starting this Thursday, April 28th for $199.99 with the signing of a two-year customer agreement.

Last year, the original Droid Incredible was one of the premier Android smartphones available. Some of the upgrades with this new model include the new 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, a 4-inch super LCD display, Android 2.2 and the fact that it is a global phone. Additionally, the Droid Incredible 2 can serve as a 3G mobile hotspot for up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices.

However, there's no 4G LTE connectivity available nor is there a Gingerbread update in sight just yet. Until that day (hopefully) comes, buyers will have other useful features to play with on this Froyo phone. Major specs include:

  • 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor
  • HTC Sense user interface
  • 8.0-megapixel main camera with dual LED flash, auto face detection
  • 720p HD video recording
  • DLNA support
  • Adobe Flash Player
  • SRS WOW HD surround sound with integrated noise-cancellation
  • Supports wireless voice/data service in over 200 countries; 3G access in over 125 countries

Even though it would be nice for Verizon and HTC if the Droid Incredible 2 was a big hit, let's just hope it doesn't suffer the same shortage problems as its predecessor did last year.
