Walmart drops iPhone 4 price to $147, effective June 6-30

By | June 6, 2011, 11:16am PDT

Summary: Walmart knocks $50 from the 16 GB iPhone 4 in both black and white, just in time for Father’s Day and Graduation. But there’s a catch.

Walmart wants to share in all the Apple love (thanks to the World Wide Developer Conference 2011) by dropping the 16 GB iPhone 4 in black and white from $197 to $147, from now to June 30.

This deal is available to both new and current Verizon and AT&T customers who are eligible for an upgrade, but you will need to sign a two-year contract to nab this phone at this price. But that’s not all.

Unfortunately, this deal is only available in-store so you will have to visit a Walmart near you, rather than just order one from the website. You can call ahead to make sure a particular location has the phone in-stock but Walmart is not posting such a list online. Just a few minutes ago, I called the Walmart in Fremont, California, and was told the sale is real and that they have the 16 GB model in stock.

If your grad or dad is looking for the 16 GB iPhone 4 and you live near a Walmart, pick up one of these before it is out of stock. Both AT&T and Verizon are selling the same model for $199.99 on their respective websites so save yourself some money by getting the same phone from Walmart instead.

new iphone for $50 less? Winning.
Waiting for other iPhone shoe to drop...
This is fantastic.
Buy one and get StraightTalk and I'm on a winner
@Ashtonian - Did you miss the part where a 2-year AT&T or Verizon contract is required? wink
@phoenix.psaltery@...
As any one who has bought a subsidized phone before knows. The fact that you have to sign up for 2 more years is a given.
"They're not selling so they'll being pushed out the door".
Walmart does the same and it's because "Walmart wants to share in all the Apple love"

It's not like sales are a bit flat and they have some inventory to push, right?
@Will Pharaoh

Why do you always offer such superficial analysis?!?
No, it is like it is freaking WALMART, who have a policy of end-capping loss leaders to draw people into the store, where they then make a profit off their additional purchases.
Who doesn't know this?!?
@Will Pharaoh Nice try but fail, as usual. This is not an across the board price drop at all retails, it's not a bogo deal and it's not get an iPhone for a dollar with a contract. This is a temp sale at one retailers to bring in more business. I am sure that most people looking to get an iPhone don't even consider Walmart, this is their way of letting everyone know they have them.
well hopefully this means new iphone 5 soon!!!!can't wait!! Nice thing about iphone is resale value, check out ebay... iPhone 4's with broken screens sell for 300
@Hasam1991 I can post my phoneon ebay for $2k, doesn't mean it sells.
@A Gray
I don't think Hasam1991 can hear you through the RDF..
@A Gray

And your point is? A few seconds of research before you started blathering would have shown you that they DO sell, and saved you from looking foolish.
@ Forrestall

And what reality distortion are you talking about?

Who looks foolish?

@DeusXMachina

those listings are for FACTORY UNLOCKED phones which are not available in America through ANY retailer

they are not the same thing

your argument is invalid

if they were standard iphones there's no way in hell they would sell for that much but they aren't they are the European factory unlocked models you pompous ass

i am by the way responding to your post a couple down below this one which i could not respond to directly

@shadowscrawl

And these are for phones locked to AT&T and Verizon:

The fact of the matter is, being unlocked has nothing to do with it.
If YOU had bothered to do 30 seconds of research, you would have ALSO saved you from looking like an idiotic ass.

"if they were standard iphones there's no way in hell they would sell for that much but they aren't they are the European factory unlocked models you pompous ass"

These two links prove you wrong. Per se.
You were saying?

"i am by the way responding to your post a couple down below this one which i could not respond to directly"

Oh look, I managed to reply to the correct post. Magic.

(P.S. Periods are your friend.)

@Will Pharaoh
Um, yes, they do. As stated above, a few seconds of research before you started blathering would have shown you that they DO sell, and saved you from looking like the ass that you are.
BTW, $300 is LOW! If you offered one Buy it Now for that, it would go almost immediately. http://cgi.ebay.com/Lot-4-Apple-iphone-4-Black-16GB-Factory-Unlocked-New-/190523356221?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item2c5c13b43d

My iPhone 4 was stolen before the 2 year contract ran out. AT&T wants $600 for a replacement...
@gmeader My iPhone 3G got wet and hence ruined. AT&T and Best Buy (providers in my scenario) wanted the $500-$700 to replace the phone (without another 2-year agreement). Apple offered to replace the phone for $200. In some cases, you can buy insurance that would replace the phone if damaged, lost, or stolen. But your point is well-taken: These phones are ~$200 with a 2-year contract; HOWEVER, they're ~$600 to replace without the contract!

Um, why is this news? Xbox was on sale this weekend too but I don't see a write-up. Oh, ya, because the Walmart flyer already covered it...
@happyharry_z Maybe their wasn't a story about the Xbox sale because nobody cared wink

Why?
ADboy 8th Jun
Why does a drop in phone prices in a particular outlet make ZD to do an article? Is this a tech forum or a horn blowing site for Walmart/Apple? Do they not have enough business already otherwise?
