Walmart is dipping more into the cell phone service market with the help of T-Mobile. The result? A new program called Walmart Family Mobile, which boasts the "lowest price" family plans.

The new service allows subscribers to post-pay monthly, but it's contract-free. The first line of service is $45 per month, with each additional line costing $25 per month. But every single line gets unlimited voice and text.

Data, however, is paid upfront and then as-you-go. New subscribers get 100MB free when signing up, after which they can pay $10 for 200MB, $25 for 500MB and $40 for 1GB. That sounds like a lot, but the bright side is that data actually rolls over from month-to-month.

All of these plans will get service over the T-Mobile network when the program is launched at over 2,500 Walmart stores nationwide on September 20. There are a number of varying mobile phones available from this plan from Motorola, Nokia and Samsung. However, given that there isn't a contract subsidy, you might be looking at paying full price each time you upgrade.

This actually sounds like a pretty great service for families and anyone who uses a lot of voice minutes but could keep their data coverage under control.
