Manhattan Metadrama

Summary: I'm headed over to the Copocabana for BlogOn II Day I. On JetBlue I read some of Seth Godin's book on cows and attention, watched West Wing and Law 'n Odor Special Edition II with the guy from L&O I and Anabella Sciorra (sorry if I mangled that, where's my autospell, Matt), and watched the White Sox clinch the pennant.

Note to airlines: I scheduled the flight to match the game and West Wing. As the Journal points out this morning about eyeTunes, Holy Disruption, Batman.

Mike Arrington tries to suggest I (we) OFGNs are wrong about links. Nice try, kid. We're not wrong. Links are oh so BrinRank. Attention is the new coin of the Empire.

It's not what you do that counts, it's what you don't do.

No where in your rambling incoherent response did you come close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. We are all dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.

  • I would assume...

...that since this blog is posted publicly, we (the ZDNet readers) are expected to read it. But what does it mean? It is nothing but insider references, often not even in complete sentences. What are we supposed to gain in reading this?

If this blog is only intended for a narrow audience consisting only of Steve's IT media buddies ("The Gillmor Gang"), why is it posted alongside the other ZDNet blogs? And if it is intended for a general audience, why is it so targeted toward the few insiders who actually know what Steve is talking about?

ZDNet is chock full of blogs, spanning the spectrum of IT opinion. Some I agree with, some I don't; but at least they all make sense - except for this one. Bottom line: is this blog supposed to make sense to the average ZDNet reader? If so, it fails miserably. If not, why is it here?

  • Why?

You'd have to ask Dan Farber why he puts up with me. As to the content, if you follow the posts regularly you'll see I'm talking about some issues (spamblogs, linkrank, attention) that I and others have posted on at length over the past years. If the content doesn't speak to you, disregard it. If what you are looking for is elsewhere, go there. What I don't understand is why a few of you take the time to complain about this if it's so clearly not interesting to you. At least you have the grace to use your real name.
