Plodcasting
Summary: I had hoped I'd be able to avoid the Chinese water torture Adam Curry, Dave Slusher, David Berlind, Glenn Fleischman and untold others have endured. No such luck.
I had hoped I'd be able to avoid the Chinese water torture Adam Curry, Dave Slusher, David Berlind, Glenn Fleischman and untold others have endured. No such luck. I'm knee deep in Plodcasting Hell. I've followed Glenn's tutorial and succeeded in recording a Skype conversation consisting of my Skype callee and not me. I can hear him on the Mac speakers, not my Logitech earphones. He can hear me on the Logitech mike, but Audio Hijack Pro can't. Tomorrow I'll get in touch with AHP support and see what they can tell me. 'Til then, I'm going to watch TV and pretend I'm relaxed and confident.

From Plodding to Walking
I've just started podcasting over at http://
www.thepodcastnetwork.com/gadget/ , and used Glenn's
instructions. I've found that my logitech USB headset will record
but not provide audio. So instead, I plug my iPod headphones
into the lineout and use the headset only as a mic.
I'd be happy to chat about my setup, success, and gotchas that
I've noticed so far. Ping me at via my email at http://
www.gadgetlounge.net if you want to email or skype.
Kind regards
Richard
Quit, launch, quit, switch
It's irritating because it'll all be working and then suddenly...bupkes.
My setup
PowerBook G4
Sound Preferences
Input: USB Logitech
Output: Soundflower (2ch)
Skype Audio Settings:
Audio In: USB Logitech
Audio Out: Soundflower (2ch)
AudioHijack:
Session 1: USB In to SF (2ch) - Hijack
Input
Audio In: System Input (Default)
Audio Out: Soundflower (2ch)
Session 2: SF (2ch) to File - Hijack & Record
Input
Audio In: Soundflower (2ch)
Audio Out: Soundflower (16ch)
Record
MP3 (Medium) (or AIFF if you want to edit first)
Session 3: Skype to Monitor - Hijack (allows to hear other Skype party)
Input
Application: Skype
Effects: Auxiliary Output Device (Output Device: USB Logitech; Source: Default)
And don't forget to restart AHC and Skype if things don't work (you may have to do this a couple of times, weird but true).
Also check your Sound Preferences Output if you cannot hear through the USB headset.
There seems to be a problem with the USB output resetting itself. Try muting the volume and raising it again, or change outputs back and forth until you can hear outputs through the USB headset (e.g. system alarms). Once you get it to work, chnge the Output to Soundflower (2ch).
I don't know why this happens but it does.
Good luck.
Email me if I you want to go over this with me.
