So vegetarians may NOT be the best friends of planet Earth. That's the conclusion of a Cornell researcher into food and agriculture.

His work shows that dairy products and a little bit of meat is actually a more efficient way to use the earth to feed a human being. Studying just New York State, the researcher's calculations showed it could support fifty percent more people if they were all on a low-fat vegetarian diet. No burgers at all. However, the most efficient diet turned out to include some dairy and meat products.

Why? Because pasture land for cattle and other farm animals is more plentiful than cropland. Corn, wheat, fruit and vegetable require much higher quality farmland than livestock, hay or pasture.

  • Being vegan is

a choice due to personal discord with how the corporate meat industry operates. Me personally, I eat from the meat and love it. I know where it comes from and can kill and prep my own if needed. But vegans? They look like walking sticks of parchment. It's a political statement and nothing else. ]:)

Unfortunately cows do not live in fields on "farmland" They live in tiny stalls in meat warehouses. This was deceptively written...and most meat eaters wouldn't know the difference.

Nice theory, but what's all that livestock going to eat? That "inefficient to grow" plant matter. And it takes a lot more of it to feed them than it would to cut out the middle man and feed it right to us.
