More Green IT trend data, this time from McKinsey

McKinsey executive poll reflects strong foundation for green IT projects.
Written by Heather Clancy, Contributor

This one snuck me by until I had a chance to really read a new article in the McKinsey Quarterly called "IT in the new normal: McKinsey Global Survey Results." The essay is focused on the role of information technology -- regardless of our recessionary status. According to McKinsey's data (which reflects an online survey of 444 executives between Oct. 13, 2009, and Oct. 26, 2009), green IT programs have fared well in the past year.

"At companies with a green agenda (almost half of those surveyed), more than 25 percent of respondents indicated they are accelerating their plans, and about half say their plans will be unaffected by spending reductions. Cost savings and reputation enhancement are likely behind this strong push to protect green investments."

So, are the McKinsey and similar CDW research numbers just aberrations, or is green IT in vogue again?
