What the rag mag does not deal with: General Motors only made the EV-1 to comply with a temporary California state requirement. The California requirement was rescinded under heavy pressure from major car-makers like GM and Honda. The public was NEVER allowed to own the cars, so all leases were cancelled and evidence that electric cars once rolled the Golden State were collected and crushed. The mag does hint at the anti-GM doc. "Who Killed the Electric Car?" That, BTW, was released last summer and the movie website indidcates it's no longer playing in theatres.

CNET's Michael Kanellos recently took a look at what really did in the electric car. He concludes there were lots of obstacles and few were overcome, so we await the new, promised generation of electric cars. Kanellos's commentary generated a lot of argument so this is clearly an issue that matters to techies and drivers in general.

Once again, here's a gallery of current electric cars. Give me a bonus point for that pun, please.

Now, shall we take nominees for the fifty worst magazines of all time?
