Apple's third quarter 07 results are in

Summary: Apple's third quarter 07 results are in, and it's very good news. It seems that Apple is gaining ground at a pace not seen before.

Apple's third quarter 07 results are in, and it's very good news.  It seems that Apple is gaining ground at a pace not seen before.

Here are some highlights:

  • Revenue of $5.41 billion (compared to $4.37 billion a year ago)
  • Net quarterly profit of $818 million (compared to $472 million a year ago)
  • 1,764,000 Macs shipped (33% growth on a year ago)
  • 9,815,000 iPods sold (21% growth on a year ago)

But what about the iPhone?  Good news there too:

“We’re thrilled to report the highest June quarter revenue and profit in Apple’s history, along with the highest quarterly Mac sales ever,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “iPhone is off to a great start—we hope to sell our one-millionth iPhone by the end of its first full quarter of sales—and our new product pipeline is very strong.”

Apple is on a roll!

  • SEC should investigate...

    I have to question these results. How can the iPod be growing at all? With Zune player out now for such a long time, it is obvious to me that the iPod should be LOSING market share. And then the Mac?! Come on! I passed by the Apple Store in Bellevue Square Mall the other day and saw tons of people in there. My rep and I immediately said it must be all of the returns due to poor quality and shoddy engineering. I have total comfort knowing Dell techs are onsite every week to replace the keyboards in our notebooks.

  • Like I said, they're a gizmo company.

    One million $650 phones will certainly give you your best quarter ever. Apples little gizmos save their life, because their computers just can't cut it. Dells US PC market share alone this quarter is SIX TIMES that of Apple's, and Apple has been around longer than anyone in that market.

    They need to lower their prices and ship the systems with Vista.

      The 1 million is a forecast for total iPhones shipped by the end of NEXT quarter.
      Computer sales are up a third from the year-ago quarter. Yeah, they clearly aren't

      in such a short post.

      Let's see: 270,000 iPhones, not 1,000,000.
      Apple is accounting for the phones over 24 months, so that $499 or $599 phone
      (again, since you don't seem to understand the difference between 270,000 and
      1,000,000 why should you get the difference between $599 and $650?) only adds
      either $20.79 or $24.95 to the quarterly results.

      Apple's sales of computers was up 33% over the same quarter a year ago, so I don't
      understand why you think that the "gizmos" are saving their lives. Dell's sales was
      down 14%. Trends are more important than snapshot figures.

      Elsewhere you've shown complete ignorance of business and the stock market. I
      think the last thing Apple needs is advice from you. They're doing quite well
