Please, let this 'new iPhone at WWDC dream' nonsense die!

By | June 3, 2011, 4:03am PDT

Summary: Despite Apple having actually come out and TOLD EVERYONE what to expect at the WWDC 2011 keynote this year, some outlets continue to dream about a surprise iPhone announcement.

[UPDATE: I told you so!!!!]

Despite Apple having actually come out and TOLD EVERYONE what to expect at the WWDC 2011 keynote this year, some outlets continue to dream about a surprise iPhone announcement.

Please, just let this nonsense die!

Here’s what Apple said:

At the keynote, Apple will unveil its next generation software - Lion, the eighth major release of Mac OS X; iOS 5, the next version of Apple’s advanced mobile operating system which powers the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch; and iCloud, Apple’s upcoming cloud services offering.

Clear and concise. WWDC 2011 keynote is about software. There will be no hardware announcement.

But despite this perfectly clear heads-up we’re still getting stuff like this:

Of course, this could just be a glitch in AT&T’s system that is ignoring stock of the back iPhone 4, but if you needed a story to keep that new iPhone at WWDC dream alive, this is most definitely it.

Oh please … are you serious? A keynote is what, like two, maybe two and a half hours, and there are people who still believe that Apple could cover a major Mac OS  release, a major iOS release, iCloud AND a new iPhone in that time. No way, and a site like Cult of Mac should know this already and not get caught up in the nonsense/link-bait/wishful thinking/BS* (delete as appropriate). How long do they expect the frickin’ keynote to go on for? New iPhone or not, my interest would wane after the third hour, no doubt.

I know that in recent years Apple’s WWDC keynote has been seen as a launchpad for the iPhone, but WWDC keynote isn’t always about hardware, in fact, if you take the long view, there are only hardware announcements about half of the time. Just because the lat few keynotes have had hardware announcements doesn’t mean that new hardware is mandatory.

Sheesh, get over it people, there will be no new iPhone announcement at WWDC this year.

@draces1

Yes, it will give you brain cancer when you talk and and cure it when you tweet.
These Apple fanboys need some garbage to talk about, so they happily do it happy
@honest1122: ... fit it at the end of presentation. There is nothing except for rumours what could prohibit update of iPhone now and not in September.

But lets see what happens -- just few days to wait.

@ifillup Let me guess - YOU must be the dumba$$ who keeps perpetuating the rumor or one of those brainwashed zealots who refuses to acknowledge that you might not be getting a nice shiny new iPhone this year. Either way you are taking what AKH wrote entirely too personally - tell ya what, why don't you take your pimply pasty faced self out of mom's basement and at least TRY to find a girl desperate enough to hang with you.. or at least take your money in exchange for sexual favors.
Well, at least it makes a change from hearing the possibility of an iphone nano we normally get this time of year.
OOO Adrian I like it when you get all fired up about things. But I agree 100%. Enough with the BS and the rumors. It will be announced soon enough.

Probably not

If it does cure cancer, it'll most probably be the cancer caused by Windows Phones. However, that's a minority (and shrinking?) population, so it's unlikely it'll cure cancer.

They want the page hits. That's why they always post rumors and is probably the easiest way to get page hits. This happens every year when they announce WWDC, some fools will make up rumors, the WWDC keynote is given, rumors turn out to be false.

They?

Is this "they" you mention you? Or do you mean that zdnet wants them? Or that Apple wants them? The penguins want them? Who's this "they" you speak of?

I surmise that you're American, but please, being a vague American is a little bit shady.
@ego.sum.stig@... Are you stupid? He's talking about the people who put up articles wishing for an iPhone 5. Ya know, what the entire article is about?

Stupid? Of course, all humans are stupid, so I guess I'm stupid, as are...

Also, why did you put a question mark at the end of a statement?
With the COUNTLESS surprises Apple has had up its sleeve over the past 20 years... you REALLY think there are going to be no surprises this year????

We all know Apple wants to surprise everyone by introducing the new iPhone as "One More Thing..." at the end of the keynote.

How much did they pay you to spread this disinformation?

Gonna come clean Adrian?? wink
iPhone 5 will come out when Chuck Norris allows it to be released. wink
