I can guarantee he doesn't own a single one but still wants to make snide comments on them.

Why on earth would I waste my money on a feature short, phone bricking OS that (oh yes really) needs plugging in to a PC to update ?

I'll just stick with my HTC droid that updates without the need to attach an umbilical cord to a coal powered monster.

If don't own one, how do you comment on one. Oh yeah, I got it. You are one of the resident trolls here.

Oh the irony in that statement coming from the LoveRock!

@Alan Smithie it stands for No Donuts! The name is a sarcastic reference to Android update that are all named after sweets.

I am a WP7 guy, but I will say it is a pretty weird name for an update. Either way, I am excited for the update!!!

      • NoDo history?

@apetti ... i think it was not intended to refer to Android updates but due to the fact that no one brought donuts in one of their sprint planning, or something to that effect.

    • what specifically didnt you like?

@Alan Smithie What didnt you like about the phone when you used it?

The only issue I see is Microsofts lack of communication regarding updates. That said Im probably gonna go with Thunderbolt instead of WP7.

While I can?t speak for Mr. Smithe, I can offer my opinion on it. I did not like the UI as it is bland and rather ugly. Having to swipe and scroll is not easier than just swipe and tough the icon. The few different phone at the AT&T store were slow (not very responsive) when you compared them side by side with the iPhone, and new Android phones. I thin the worst prt is having to have a copy of Windows to use the phone. MIcrosoft doe not have a version of the Zune media player for anything but Windows, so it is a deal breaker for me.

    • Multitasking comes to Windows Phone some time in 2012

Microsoft's slow rate of updates is very sad. Other platforms (Android, iOS) get advanced features. Windows Phone 7 only gets... Copy & Paste. Nothing else in 2011.

In 2012, Windows Phone 7 gets... multitasking. Wow. Every other platform had this years ago.

Microsoft doesn't seem interested in it any more.

@zndac - FWIW, the update was baked in early January, but carriers have been dragging their feet when it comes to testing and certifying the update on their networks.

This is not a Microsoft-specific issue. Compare, if you will, Android: Some Android handsets are only now getting a Froyo update (e.g. Motorola Milestone), some 10 months after Froyo was first released. US owners of Samsung's Galaxy S Vibrant didn't get Froyo until 8 months after Froyo was released!

I'll beleive it when I see it!
I love my Windows Phone but the communication to us customers is horrible. All it has been so far is a big gueesing game.

nothing yet, microsoft should really follow the apple's upgrade process so that everyone can get the update around the world on time.

@abhi.jamwal That would be real nice!!!!

    • like apple's update process

@abhi.jamwal ... one issue for delayed roll-out of updates is that it is an operating system running in differently models of handsets. Like the Samsung update issue, there is a bigger risk in rolling out updates than updating just one type of handset.
