Summary: Been waiting patiently to get your hands on Windows 7 Release Candidate? Your wait is over!

Been waiting patiently to get your hands on Windows 7 Release Candidate? Your wait is over!

Both 32-bit and 64-bit downloads are available here (the TechNet route seems quieter that the official download page at present ...).

As of the time of writing the download servers feel a little sluggish but they are responding ... but there are no guarantees that things will stay that way for long.

[UPDATE: OK, those servers didn't last long ...

Getting the RC seems easier and less bumpy through the TechNet route.]

  • It's the most highly anticipated OS

It's the most highly anticipated OS so it had to happen. However downloads aren't being interrupted :)
    • It's the most highly anticipated OS

Most highly anticipated OS? Really. I don't know a single XP user anticipating this. Hasn't made news coverage. Who is anticipating this?
      • millions are

Well businesses, consumers, enterprise are all waiting for Windows 7. As far as the ones you know they must be using p3 and 128 MB RAM, so what's the use of waiting for Windows 7?
        • What?

I responded to the statement most highly anticipated OS. Obviously there are people waiting for Windows 7. The people I know using XP are intelligent and have decent computer equipment. These people are not anticipating (or waiting for Windows 7). XP does everything they need, they have no plans to upgrade to Windows 7.

          Think before you respond.
          • I'm not sure...

.. how many of us there are but I work for a government agency and those of us in IT are darn well anticipating the release of 7.
    • its all over iso and torrent sites

its out there. so if ms is slow, just bt the dl.

      • Why?

Seems kinda dumb, buy why use someone else's FREE downloaded file that is registered to them, and their registration number, when you can download it for free and get your own registration number.

Did you know that MS has said that you can download as many as you like?

So, tell me this - are you so used to "stealing" by ripping off software vendors using Pirates Bay or some other torrent dl site that even FREE offerings don't work for you any more?

        Get a life...
    • I'm personally awaiting...

Snow Leopard the most. I just can't use an OS that is vulnerable to
malware that can be installed from a simple redirect on a popular
website. Myspace Chat redirected me multiple times to a known attack
site. I'm just glad I was using OSX.
      • myspace chat

Yeah well maybe you should stay off Myspace Chat.
      • Crap OS X Snow Leopard

And I can't just use an OS that is vendor locked and is the easiest to hack into...LOL
  • RE: Windows 7 RC ready for public download

I'm downloading now and I seem to be getting near my max speeds on a 7megs connection. Seems i'll be done in 30mins or thereabout.
  • RE: Windows 7 RC ready for public download

    • Hang in there ...

Where can I find the Hashes?
    • SHA1 hashes

      From MSDN:

      SHA1: FC867FE1AB2E0A9796F9E4D155B44EA6998F4874

      SHA1: 7D1F486CA569EFFFFB719CFB48355BB7BF499712
  • Can you confirm it's build 7100? (nt)

    • Yes

      It is build 7100.

      • Hash matches torrents

its been checked in Neowin forum against torrents to be a hash match.
  • Ballmer Too Cheap For The Servers?

They didn't learn from January and now are bogged down again? Way to go.
