Some weeks back I met James Governor, Chris Dalby and Mark Charmer in London. James will be well known to some readers as the brash, outspoken industry analyst who has branched into eco issues with Greenmonk. Chris is a geek who has a house that Tweets (see 1 minute video above.) Chris is one of the leading lights behind Home Camp. According to the blurbs:

Home Camp is an unconference about using technology to monitor and automate the home for greener resource use and to save costs.  This is about low energy devices and servers, reducing your electricity bills, monitoring your mouse traps, home automation, monitoring your water usage, using solar power.  This is a hack day.

Mark heads the Movement Design Bureau, a think tank on the future of movement. He is also co-founder of Akvo, which is trialling open source techniques for water projects where they are most needed.

Over 45 minutes we talked about energy issues, the failure of reporting systems, the new style of reporting that will be required by large enterprise and ways to take back control of your energy use.

I have argued that it is not the large consulting operations that will bring the kind of radical change needed to adjust in the new economy but the smaller shops of free thinkers. The video collection of seven movies is available at my YouTube channel and provides insights into their thinking across these issues. The videos range in length from 1 minute to 4 minutes 11 seconds.
