Apple is advising users attempting to use iTunes on Windows Vista to wait a few more weeks for an update that will be designed to be Vista-compatible from the get-go.

Some Vista users aren't having iTunes compatibility problems, but others, especially those upgrading to Vista from Windows 2000 or XP, seem to be.

On the Apple Support Web site, there's this buried warning:

"Ejecting an iPod from the Windows System Tray using the "Safely Remove Hardware" feature may corrupt your iPod. To always safely eject an iPod, choose Eject iPod from the Controls menu within iTunes."

Microsoft updated its own Zune software in mid-December to make it Vista-compatible.
